Mitchell Eley Gould Architects have been shortlisted in an open competition to design a new housing development in Bristol. The competition, held by Bristol Housing Festival and Goram Homes, sought imaginative, community-led’ proposals for a new residential-led scheme on a brownfield plot previously home to a primary school but since cleared for redevelopment. Our entry entitled ‘Keep and Common’ envisaged a network of shared social landscapes knitted together to provide growing, playing and meeting places; critical in delivering ecology-focused public space. The judges said of the scheme that it “shows the potential for a really special and considered development. From sustainable homes to community food growing to multigenerational living, each one demonstrates how their design could benefit the community […] also showed plans that could respect the ecology of the Western Slopes, which is incredibly important here.”
